Weihnachtsstadt Lübeck öffnet Montag! Get Ready for Holiday Cheer!

Hey everyone! So, guess what? Lübeck's Christmas market opens this Monday! I'm so hyped. I know, I know, it feels like just yesterday we were sweating through summer, but BAM – suddenly it's time for Glühwein and Lebkuchen.

I’ve been looking forward to this for ages. Last year, I totally missed the opening weekend because I was busy, you know, adulting – taxes, that sort of thing. I felt like I'd missed out on all the fun, seriously bummed me out. This year? Nope. No way. I'm planning my attack strategy.

My Lübeck Christmas Market Game Plan:

First things first, getting there early is key. I learned that the hard way last year. I showed up on a Saturday afternoon, and it was a total zoo. Crazy crowds everywhere. It was hard to even see the stalls, let alone enjoy a nice Bratwurst and a mug of Glühwein.

This year, I'm aiming for Monday morning. It’ll likely be less crowded, giving me a chance to soak it all in. The Lübeck Christmas Market boasts some seriously amazing food and drink. Seriously, their Glühwein is legendary, I'm talking that warm, spiced wine with a kick. Beyond Glühwein, I'm hoping to find some really unique Lebkuchen this year – I'm thinking maybe marzipan-filled ones? Lübeck is famous for its marzipan, after all. And don't even get me started on the roasted almonds… OMG.

Besides the food, I'm excited to check out the crafts. I always pick up a few little ornaments for the tree, maybe a hand-carved wooden toy for my niece. Last year I found a gorgeous hand-blown glass angel. It was a total splurge, but it’s become my favorite ornament.

• Check the weather forecast: Lübeck can get chilly in December. Dress warmly! Layers are your friend. Think thermal underwear, a warm coat, scarf, gloves – the works.

• Wear comfortable shoes: You'll be doing a lot of walking. Trust me on this one. My feet were killing me last year, even with my “comfortable” shoes. Maybe even pack some blister plasters, just in case.
• Plan your route: The market is pretty big, so knowing where you want to go first will save you time and frustration.

This year, I'm going in prepared. No more last-minute rushes or missed opportunities. I'm determined to experience the magic of the Lübeck Christmas market to the fullest!
