Servette: Weiter Kämpfen – Meine Fussball-Odyssee

So, Servette. Man, what a ride. This season’s been a rollercoaster, hasn’t it? Ups and downs, more downs than ups, if I’m being totally honest. I’ve been a Servette fan my whole life – practically born with a scarf around my neck! Okay, maybe not literally, but you get the picture. My grandpa, bless his soul, dragged me to the Stade de Genève when I was barely tall enough to see over the seats. And ever since, it’s been a constant mix of exhilarating victories and gut-wrenching defeats. This year? It's been especially...intense.

Remember that game against Young Boys? Ugh, don't even get me started. We were so close. I swear, I aged ten years in those ninety minutes. My blood pressure was through the roof. I thought my heart would literally explode. We played well, really well – but those last-minute goals… Brutal. It felt like someone punched me in the gut. Seriously, I needed a stiff drink afterwards. And not just any drink – a strong one.

But that's football, right? It's a cruel mistress. One minute you're on top of the world, the next you’re wondering why you even bother. It tests your loyalty. It challenges your sanity. It makes you question everything. And yet… we keep coming back for more, don't we? That's the beautiful and terrible thing about being a fan.

One thing I've learned over the years – and this year’s been a masterclass in this – is patience. And realism. I used to get so caught up in the hype, the expectations. I’d get angry, frustrated… sometimes even depressed when things didn't go our way. Now? I try to take a step back. I focus on the individual performances, the effort the players put in. Sure, the results matter, but it's more than just wins and losses. It's about the passion, the community, the shared experience.

This season taught me the importance of realistic expectations. We’re not Real Madrid, you know? We're Servette. We have our strengths and weaknesses, and sometimes, despite our best efforts, things just don't click. It's okay to acknowledge that. It's about appreciating the journey, even when it's bumpy.

We might not be winning every game, but the spirit of the team, the dedication of the players, and the unwavering support of the fans – that's what truly matters. That’s what keeps me coming back week after week, season after season. It’s more than just a game. It’s a family. It's a passion. It's Servette. And we’ll keep fighting, together. Always. Because this isn’t just a club, it’s a feeling. And that feeling? That feeling is forever. Allez Servette!
