So, I'll be honest, I initially planned a super chill weekend. Just some relaxed hiking, maybe a bit of sightseeing. I’d envisioned myself strolling through picturesque villages, sipping coffee at a quaint cafe. The reality? Well, it was way more adventurous than I anticipated. My GPS decided to take a vacation of its own and sent me down a seriously bumpy forest track. My car, let's just say, it’s not exactly a 4x4. But hey, that’s how I stumbled upon the most incredible hidden gem – a tiny, almost secret lake nestled deep in the woods near the Lechfeld. It was totally idyllic! Crystal-clear water, the sun dappling through the trees… pure magic.

Lesson learned: Always double-check your GPS route, especially in more rural areas like the Landkreis Augsburg. And maybe invest in a better map app! I even used Google maps – still ended up in the middle of nowhere. Downloading offline maps is also smart – no cell signal in some parts of the region.

• Food: Don't miss out on the local cuisine! Plenty of traditional Bavarian restaurants serving hearty meals. I indulged in Schweinshaxe and a Maß of beer – pure Bavarian bliss!

One thing I wish I had known before: The Landkreis Augsburg is way bigger than I imagined. I underestimated the travel time between different attractions. So plan your itinerary accordingly. Give yourself enough time to enjoy everything, you don't want to rush.
